Grandview North and Metrotech Proposals
Last week we had a great turnout from the eastern half of our district (beware Heritage Heights and Rolling Meadows, the Sprecher neighborhoods are giving you a strong run in terms of turnout and engagement) to discuss a 94 unit multi-family development in the Grandview North neighborhood and a senior living community with a mixed use element (such as a coffee shop, potentially) in the Metrotech area.

Traffic in the Milwaukee/Sprecher Area - Part 2
Without deviating from our stated agenda for our neighborhood meeting too much, we definitely uncovered a lot of intense thoughts on traffic. I'm glad we had a chance to do that as it helps shape my work and priorities on your behalf.
City Tree Removal
Posted on Apr 8th, 2016
Per Alder Amanda Hall:
If you live by me on the east side of Sprecher Road then you'll notice that beginning mid-month, the city will be removing some trees. Specifically, the city has identified trees in the North Door Creek and East Hill Parkway greenways which are invasive tree species (black walnut, etc.), which choke out growing canopy trees like the east side's famous and beautiful Burr Oaks. You should have received notice of this, but just by way of reminder as to why the city is taking out otherwise normal and healthy-looking trees.
Kwik Trip Update
Posted on Apr 8th, 2016
Below is a summary of the key points in Alder Amanda Hall's blog update:
Thank you all for engaging in the discussion process for the Kwik Trip proposal. As you've heard me say before, the process of considering a development proposal can get neighbors talking and create a better sense of community in our neighborhood.
Ultimately, the commission (Urban Planning Commission) felt that no gas station, even one as admittedly nice-looking as Kwik Trip, could meet the aesthetic requirements for which the commission was looking for the site, nor could a one story building such as KT likely fit with other neighborhood structures. As such, the commission voted to refer the proposal to the Plan Commission with a recommendation against the proposal.
